This is a chapel I gave at Cascia Hall on this date in 2011:
Today we celebrate the memorial of St. Albert the Great. Though not nearly as well-known as his student, Thomas Aquinas, Albert was truly a Renaissance man even before the Renaissance began. In addition to being a bishop, teacher, philosopher, and theologian, he was also a scientist. In this way, he is a model of the liberal arts education that we follow here at Cascia Hall. All knowledge, understanding, and wisdom are gifts of Holy Spirit, whether we learn them in prayer, in literature, or in the laboratory, so let us always look upon our learning as making the most of the gifts God has given us.
